Beyonce's "Single Ladies" Inspiration

I love Beyonce's new song, "Single Ladies"...and I love the video. She can dance her ass off. And my baby girl, Taylor loves the song as well- she is so cute trying to dance to it. She goes crazy everytime the song or video comes on. But if I see one more person on youtube.com trying to do her dance I am going to scream. Its so funny though, that Beyonce got inspiration from someone else as well...check it out below.

NEW FLAVA FOR YA EARS: Janelle Monáe

I was looking through one of my old Vogue magazines and ran across this article on this flyy girl named, Janelle Monáe...have yall heard of her? I don't know much about her but when I saw the article I couldn't ignore her unique style. The article is actually from a past issue...hold on let me see the date of it...oh, ok its from the August issue. I found her on myspace too, and her music is pretty good. You should check her out. So the scoop on her is that she moved to ATL to pursue her singing career. She became very popular and people were talking about her like crazy. And from her myspace page, Diddy hit her up. She didn't believe it was actually Diddy contacting her so she ignored him for a minute. Finally she took it seriously- met up with him and he signed her just like that. I also read that he has given her total creative control! That is a blessing for an up and coming artist, right? We all know usually you have to do what the label tells you to get your foot in the door. She must of had other offers else where- so total creative control must of sealed the deal for her. Can you actually see Diddy giving up his control...omg! I can't! But anyway, I've also attached a video for your viewing pleasure! Enjoy...and Monae has decided to release her material in suites: a group of about five-to-seven songs that come out every four months or so. BRANDY: Insecure, Jealous, or Desperately Needing Attention!

Just like I promised, there will be some gossip on this blog- I mean it is fashion related and juicy at the same time ha ha. I just got home from my full time job, and was in the process of doing my “dream job”, designing some pieces for FATE...My style icon is RIHANNA, she is so dope! No homo! So I was checking out her latest fashion candids, and read the most childish quote from none other than- BRANDY (you know that girl who use to sing like so many years ago who fell off the face of the earth claiming she was married but come to find out she wasn’t, she just said that because her ass was preggers and thought the world cared that she was really pregnant out of wedlock, lol). Apparently she was being interviewed by USWeekly, and when asked about other R&B artists’ style she said,

"I love Rihanna's style and I've always loved Beyonce's style, BUT my style is classy and simple and fashion forward."

Hold the fuck up, did she really just say that! A lot of people say things and mean something totally different but there is no way around this one. She might as well said “those bitches wear nice things but they are trashy with it”. To me she seems like she is either craving attention- knowing that people like me would take what she said out of context; or her ass is really that insecure to be jealous of Rihanna and Beyonce. I’m leaning more towards the “attention” side of it mainly because she could have thrown other names out there but she didn’t- let's see Keyshia Cole, Mary, Alicia Keys, Keri Hilson, Christina Milan, Cassie (not that she can sing that well but she is definitely fly), the other girls of Destiny's Child (LOL). But she knew these girls would get her the attention she needs. She should of mentioned Keyshia Cole or Mary J. Blige, lol...she would of got some extra attention then...Keyshia is straight hood...her and Neffy would of been looking for that ass! LMAO! What do you think about Brandy’s attention stunt? Brandy better hire the dopest fashion stylist now- because she has to live up this so called “classy fashion forward” style of hers. Better yet, she better hire RiRi! Let’s see if Rihanna or Beyonce responds to this? I doubt it though, just like their style- they are definitely too classy to do so!

GEEK FACE

It looks like the “geek” trend isn’t going anywhere any time soon. How long is a trend a trend anyway? Seriously, Kanye has been rocking this trend for quite some time. I thought it would fade away, but I guess I was wrong. It was all over the runway-for example, Michael Kors! Even Jay-Z is sporting this “trend”. What do you think of his new “Kanye inspired look”? Who would of thought looking like a geek was cool? I mean its called a “geek look” because there is a stereotype that people who wear glasses are usually “geeks”- which isn’t a compliment. I think this trend started when these big time eye glass companies started having high profile advertisements- with popular models and celebrities wearing their brand. Let’s face it, when we see celebrities rocking something a little outrageous we are more open to it (whatever that trend may be). And they also have a retro feel to them- and we all know anything retro is so in right now! I honestly like the trend as well- wearing them makes a bold statement and if you can actually pull it off you know you are fashionista !

Trend Alert: Luxury Nails

Back by popular demand, is the 80's fashion era which has brought one the hottest new trends with it- nail art! Designer nails are so hot right now. Seriously, you can be so creative with your nails- from the intricate hand painted designs, different polish effects, adhesives, rhinestones, and piercings you can do just about anything to your nails. Don’t get it twisted though, there is a thin line between being "flyy" and being “ghetto”, so be careful!

Who knew nail technician had so much passion for their craft...I mean seriously, when I go get my nails done I don’t think the technicians love their job or knew that’s what they would do as a career- I mean how much of a promotion can you get by doing nails? But to my surprise there are people out there that really have a passion for it and work hard at it to make it their money maker. One artist that I’m a big fan of is Tina Gold. She is so dope...she describes herself as the Rolls Royce of nail design...that’s hot, right? Lol. Her designs stand out and she seems to be the ring leader of this trend right now. Hollywood is jumping on this trend as well, remember Kid Sister and her smash hit, Pro Nails featuring Kanye? That song was hot! She’s a fan of nail art. The always fierce Rihanna wears phresh neon colors. Oh and Beyonce’s little sister, Solange- she has been rocking this trend lately too. So if you didn’t already know- you better jump on this trend and call a nail salon near you to make your appointment for your personalized nail art!
